2024

In The Mix is an interdisciplinary, multimedia installation that explores the convergence of Black diasporic music, remix culture, and personal history, rooted in both my academic research and lived experience. Presented as my Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition at UWAG in May and June 2024, the project investigates Afrosonic histories and their relationship to the diasporic experience through the lens of remix culture.
The exhibition included a large-scale installation of visual materials, including my personal vinyl collection, family photographs and other archival imagery layered on top of a custom-made wallpaper that extends across one wall of the room (24x12ft).

It also included a curated 2-hour playlist of music that plays on a continuous loop through an 8-channel wall mounted speaker system in the room;

a lounge area, designed to facilitate deeper engagement with the music;

and live performances featuring sonic sculptures from my Astral Records series.
